In most cases, migraines are a sign of a deficiency in some mineral in the body. They can also be caused by dehydration of the body or even certain foods we consume.

Migraines affect almost  1 out of every 10 people. That is 36 million Americans. Interestingly enough migraines are in the top twenty complaints that cause people to call in sick for work.

We do not need to feel thirsty in order to realize that our body is dehydrated, as thirst is actually a sign that the cells are already dehydrated, and it develops when the body fluids are depleted well below levels required for optimal functioning.

The urine is the best way to check if you are dehydrated. It is colorless when the body is properly hydrated, yellow in a dehydrated body, and orange to dark-colored when you are severely dehydrated.

A mixture of lemon juice and Himalayan crystal salt may be the key to stopping a migraine in its tracks. At the first sign of a headache, combine the juice and zest of one lemon and two teaspoons of Himalayan crystal salt in a glass of water that is at room temperature. To get the best results, use organic lemons and high-quality Himalayan crystal salt. You should feel your headache start to ease within just a few minutes after drinking the entire glass.

Before you reach for painkillers, you need to try this natural migraine remedy:

  • ¼ teaspoons of Himalayan Pink Salt or Celtic Sea Salt
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of raw honey (optional)

Instructions:

Add the lemon juice and the salt in the water, and stir well to dissolve them.

You can sweeten with honey. Drink the remedy immediately, and follow with another glass of pure drinking water. You should drink a glass of water every 10 minutes in the following half an hour, and your migraine will be gone!

The salt in this remedy is a way to address the dehydration. Salt retains water and can lead to water retention. But taking a bit of natural salt in water will just rehydrate the cells, and provide high amounts of minerals, electrolytes, and elements needed by the body.

The lemon and salt mixture also helps restore the body’s natural alkaline balance, strengthens the immune system, boosts energy levels, and balances serotonin levels, which can help regulate mood.
